STEEL TECHNOLOGY CENTRE (STC)
Steel Technology Centre (STC) was formed to promote the effective use of steel in the construction and manufacturing industries..We are based Level 1,Block C09,the Faculty of Civil Engineering,University Teknologi Malaysia,Johor Bahru. We have a number of qualified academic staffs and fellows in multi-disciplinary fields (i.e. science, mechanical and civil engineering) who are capable in teaching and conducting research and consultancy activities in subjects related to steel including metallurgy, production, building structural analysis, and design. Complete back-up facilities for all kinds of steel research activities are available at STC.
We currently using several laboratories for steel testing, production and metallurgy, all of which are equipped with up to date equipments. Computing facilities for CAE and CAD are also available for analysis, design and drafting work. High-end PC’s and IBM RISC6000 workstation are available for research purposes. There are the number of software packages with different class of features i.e. GTSTRUDL, LUSAS, COSMOS-M, QSE, ATS, ANSYS and MICROSTRAN. We has a resource centre where all the necessary reference materials related to steel are available for use. We also works in collaboration with the UK based Steel Constructional Institute.
